The King's Head, Kilburn, is a superb setting for an acoustic night. It's smaller than it's sister,
The Luminaire (on the first floor) so it's a little more intimate and cosy, and serves the best Guinness I've had since moving to London.
I'd somehow ended up at the top of the bill, and had the joy of following Gitta; if you've heard the
session she did for the Bearfaced Podcast you'll know that's quite an intimidating position to be.
I had no option but to go for the jugular.
Until I made my appearance, the evening had been relaxed and gentle, with everyone playing soft "acoustic tunes". I can safely say almost everyone there was a little shocked when I launched into my 20mins of shouting and screaming and playing guitar like I was in Slipknot...
Afterwards it turned out I'd gone down pretty well - but then London audiences always seem to apreciate my "style" in a way unheard of in Cornwall.
I definitely want to play the King's Head again (if only because playing under the watchful gaze of a stuffed Gnu's head is an experience well worth repeating) so I will hopefully be coming back there sometime in February.
